Pick Lists — One-Click WTN Creation

Pick Lists are saved records of your regular producers, carriers, consignees, and waste types. Set them up once and every WTN form fills in a single click — no more typing the same company names and permit numbers over and over.

What Are Pick Lists?

When you create a WTN, you need to fill in details for the waste producer, the carrier, and the consignee (receiving site). If you deal with the same companies regularly — which most businesses do — typing this out each time is slow and error-prone.

Pick Lists solve this. You store each party's details once — including their permit numbers and carrier licence — and when you start a WTN, you select them from a dropdown. All fields populate instantly, correctly, and consistently.

Set up Pick Lists before your first WTN. It takes 10–15 minutes and will save you hours of repetitive data entry. It also ensures permit and licence numbers are correct on every document — critical for DWT compliance.

The Four Pick List Types

Each type stores different data for a different party in the waste transfer chain.

Producers
  • Business name
  • Address
  • Contact name & phone
  • Environmental permit / exemption number
  • SIC code (optional)
💡 If your business is always the producer, your profile auto-fills Part A. Use this list for customers whose waste you collect.
Carriers
  • Business name
  • Address
  • Waste carrier licence number ← required
  • Vehicle registrations
  • Contact name & phone
💡 Carrier licence number is legally required on every WTN. Add it here and it fills automatically.
Consignees (Receiving Sites)
  • Site name
  • Address
  • Environmental permit number
  • Registered exemption number
  • Contact details
💡 Permit number is required for DWT. Collect these from your receiving sites now and add them to this list.
Waste Types
  • Waste description
  • EWC code (6-digit)
  • Physical form (solid/liquid/powder)
  • Hazardous flag (auto from EWC *)
  • Default container type
💡 Save your most common waste types with EWC codes. When you pick a type, the EWC, description and physical form all fill instantly.

How to Add Pick List Entries

All four Pick Lists are managed from the same place in your account settings.

1

Open Settings → Pick Lists

From any page in WasteBolt, click your profile icon (top right) then Settings. Select "Pick Lists" from the left navigation menu.

2

Choose the list type and click Add New

Use the tabs at the top to switch between Producers, Carriers, Consignees, and Waste Types. Click the "Add New" button (+ icon) to open the entry form.

3

Fill in all fields — especially permit/licence numbers

For carriers: waste carrier licence number is mandatory. For producers and consignees: environmental permit or exemption number is needed for DWT compliance. These are the most critical fields to get right.

4

Save and test on a WTN

Once saved, create a new WTN. On each part, use the dropdown search to find and select from your Pick Lists. All fields for that entry populate automatically.

Managing and Updating Entries

Pick List entries can be edited or deleted at any time. Changes take effect on new WTNs immediately — existing completed notes are not affected.

Edit an entry

Click the edit (pencil) icon on any row to update details. Useful when a carrier renews their licence or a site changes permit number.

Delete an entry

Click the delete icon to remove a record you no longer use. The entry is removed from dropdowns on future WTNs but historical notes are unaffected.

Add on the fly

When creating a WTN, if a party isn't in your list yet, you can type their details manually. WasteBolt may prompt you to save them to the Pick List for next time.
