The Submission Flow

From your records to the EA in four steps.

WasteBolt does the heavy lifting. You just hit Submit.

01

Your WTNs & Dockets are Already There

Every completed WTN and weighbridge docket you've created in WasteBolt automatically appears in the DWT submission queue. Zero data re-entry. No CSV exports. No copy-pasting between systems.

02

Pre-Submission Readiness Check

WasteBolt validates every record before you submit. Each item is marked Ready (green), Warning (amber), or Error (red) so you know exactly what needs fixing — and what you can submit right now.

03

One-Click Submit to the EA

Hit Submit on any ready record. WasteBolt builds the correct DWT API payload — including EWC codes, HP codes, POPs data, container types, weights, and carrier details — and sends it directly to the Environment Agency.

04

Waste Movement ID Returned

On success, the EA returns a unique Waste Movement ID. WasteBolt stores it against your record instantly. Your submission is tracked, timestamped, and permanently archived — EA inspection ready.

Pre-Submission Validation

Know exactly what's ready before you submit.

Every record in your DWT queue is pre-validated against the EA's requirements. Errors that will cause rejection are shown in red. Warnings you can work around (with a prompted reason) are amber. Green means go.

Common Questions

DWT questions, answered.

DWT is the UK Government's mandatory digital waste tracking system, being rolled out by the Environment Agency. From October 2026, all waste receivers (and eventually all waste movements) will be required to submit digital waste records to the EA's platform. WasteBolt is already integrated — get ahead of the deadline now.

Mostly no. WasteBolt checks each record against the DWT requirements and flags exactly what's missing with a red/amber/green status. Common gaps are a missing vehicle registration, receiver email, or permit number — fields you may not have needed for paper WTNs. Fix them once in your pick-list and future records will be complete automatically.

Yes. Hazardous records also require HP hazard codes (HP1–HP15), a consignment code, and if there are Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), the component codes and concentrations. WasteBolt captures all of this in the hazardous WTN form. If a consignment code is missing, WasteBolt prompts you for the EA-accepted reason (e.g. "No document arrived with waste") so submission can still proceed.

WasteBolt will prompt you before submitting with a list of EA-accepted reasons: movement within same premises, householder transport, one-off transport, or marine transport. Select the reason and proceed — or skip entirely to send blank (though this may cause rejection).

After a successful DWT submission, the EA's platform returns a unique Waste Movement ID (also called a wasteTrackingId). WasteBolt stores this against your record so you have a permanent, auditable link between your internal reference and the EA's system.

WasteBolt detects the change and marks the record as "Edited – Resubmit". When you resubmit, WasteBolt sends a PUT request (update) rather than a POST (new), using the original Waste Movement ID — keeping the EA's records accurate.
